🔁 The innovation loop

Previously, we discussed that two things need to go right: architecture, and the learning loop. The learning loop is how innovation happens. Recently, I was reminded of a quote by a mechanical engineer who is regarded by some as the most brilliant engineer they have ever known:

He who builds the most prototypes wins. – Derek Sauder

If this is true in the mechanical realm, how much more so in electronics and software, where the complexity is higher and change is easier.

The innovation loop is an act of humility, where we recognize we don’t know everything up front. We don’t fully understand all the external factors involved. We don’t fully comprehend exactly what the user needs. The best designs, algorithms, and products are created through a process of discovery - simply a reflection of universal truths that have existed for eternity where we simplify the system to the point where it meshes perfectly with external realities.
